What We Publish:

​

Focused on literature-based criticism and research, we accept papers focused on the study of literary topics. We accept original work as well as pieces previously submitted for university courses. If you have questions about the suitability of your proposed submissions, please reach out to us.

Submission Guidelines:

​

• Submissions may range from 1500 to 4000 words in length, bibliography excluded.

• Submission must follow proper MLA formatting and citation conventions. If submissions are not in MLA style, we will ask authors to re-submit them with the proper formatting. Please avoid and/or limit the use of footnotes.

• Submissions should be in 12-point font, using a clearly legible typeface (ex. Times New Roman, Cambria, Arial, etc.).

• Submission limit of 2 papers per author per submission cycle.

• An ideal paper will be well-researched, including original and insightful theses. Structure will be clear and logical with clear, well-formed sentences. All papers should be properly edited and proofread prior to submission.

• We accept submissions from: undergraduate students regardless of institutional affiliation; postgraduate students exclusively at the University of Edinburgh; students who graduated from university programme less than 6 months prior to submission.

How To Submit:

Please email your submissions to edinburghslj@gmail.com in .doc or .docx format.

In your email, please include: title of submission, author name and pronouns, institution name, current academic year, contact information (email), and how you heard about the journal.

​

All submissions should be ready for blind (anonymous) review. The manuscript should therefore include only the title of your submission, the submission itself, and the word count.
